Due to the Covid pandemic, we will not be gathering for meditation practices until it is safe to meet. In the interim, please go to the Katog Choling website for information about weekly online practices happening via Zoom. KATOGCHOLING.COM
WEEKLY MEDITATION SCHEDULE —POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE DUE TO COVID (See above re: practices offered by Katog Choling)
ALTERNATE MONDAYS 7-8:30 PM
- Shamatha/Calm Abiding is a silent meditation, open to anyone and everyone, including those who have never meditated and are curious, as well as long-term practitioners. Using the breath as a focus, we sit for 40 minutes of silence.
- The Guided Tonglen meditation is held at our Guilford sangha every other Monday, and every Monday in Old Saybrook. Tonglen is a practice for developing compassion. Using the breath, imagining we are taking away suffering from others giving them our happiness, helps loosen our attachment to our own disturbing emotions. By training in the perspective we can completely change our outlook and transform our lives.
THURSDAYS, 7 TO 8:30 PM
- The Heart Sutra practice includes a recitation and meditation on the Heart Sutra. “Form is emptiness, emptiness is form; emptiness is not other than form, and form is not other than emptiness.”
THE FIRST SUNDAY OF EACH MONTH
- Meditation/Listening to Recorded Teaching by Khentrul Rinpoche, 10 AM to 11:30 AM
